Positive Wellbeing Clinic is a private therapy practice located in Ballarat. Our psychologists provide assessment, counselling and lifestyle interventions to teenagers and adults who present to the clinic for a range of reasons. Many of our clients have specific mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, panic, phobias, sleep disorders, trauma related symptoms or drug and alcohol issues. We also see clients with low self-esteem, interpersonal difficulties, those looking for support to adjust to significant life events such as divorce/separation, parenthood, bereavement, victims of criminal acts, workplace injuries or car accidents.
We understand that making the decision to see a psychologist can be a daunting process. We offer clients a welcoming, respectful, and compassionate space and we are genuinely interested in you and your life story. We understand the importance of the therapeutic relationship and hope to support you to find a good match between you and your therapist.
One of the most common questions that our clients ask when they first contact the clinic is, “do I need a referral from my doctor to see you?” The answer to this question is both yes and no. If you wish to see a psychologist privately and do not need to claim a rebate through Medicare, WorkCover or TAC then you do not need a referral. However, if you do wish to claim a rebate through any of these schemes, then you will need a referral from your treating GP who will determine your eligibility for psychology and/or counselling services. Clients who are referred for counselling through WorkCover, TAC, Employee Assistance Programs and Victims of Crime, may also need to obtain approval from the relevant funding agency prior to sessions commencing. Should you require more information, we would be happy to answer any questions that you have.
